Is it possible to create a section with different segment widths?
Top
When you the define the section, you enter the total width and in how many segments Retail Shelf Planner has to split this width.
Depending on the information entered, it is therefore possibleto define planograms with segments of 1 meter, 1 meter 20, 1 meter 33, etc. However, within a single planogram all segments have the same width.
But, as shelves can span multiple segments, you can simulate having a section with varying segment widths. E.g. define a section with a width of 160cm, split in 4 segments.
Define the shelves with a width of 40cm in the fist segment. Then define the shelves with a width of 80cm in the second segment. Last, define again shelves with a width of 40cm in
the fourth segment. This effectively gives you a section with 3 segements of respectively 40, 80 and 40 centimeters wide.

I have no profitablity information. Is it still possible to do analyses?
Top
YES! It's a big misunderstanding that you need item-level profitabilty information to work successfully with planograms. You could for example compare the share-of-shelf for each
segment/brand/supplier with the marketshares. Or you could, when information about sales in units of money is available, check where the best and wost performing products are merchandised
in the section. Is the assortment presented in the "proper" spots?
Also see the white paper White Paper - Planogram Data Requirements to get a better idea on what data is required for
each level of analysis and optimization. You may be surprised how much you can already achieve with the data that you have!

Can Retail Shelf Planner exchange data with an ERP-system?
Top
There is no direct link with ERP-systems, too many exist for that, and their implementations are too varied. However, it is very well possible to exchange data with an ERP-system.
This can be achieved by exporting the data into Excel. That data can then be imported in Retail Shelf Planner.
Or, if you're looking at an exchange in the other direction:
Retail Shelf Planner can save planogram information into Excel, that then can be delivered to the ERP-system, so that e.g. shelf-labels can
be printed in the correct order, or information such as shelf-capacity can be used in logistical processes.

Can I zoom in and out with a scroll-mouse?
Top
Yes, pressing the <Ctrl> key and scrolling the mouse-wheel will allow you to zoom in or out quickly. Once zoomed in, you can scroll the window up and down by simply using the scroll-wheel.
If you keep the <Shift> key pressed while scrolling, the planogram will move horizontally.

No, sloped shelves are not supported.
Is it possible to use the white space around the section and use the full screen?
Top
Retail Shelf Planner will always display the section in the correct ratio. It will try to use the available
space as best as possible, but will always respect the horizontal and vertical dimensions. If it wouldn't do that, you may get for example a bottle of soda that is 3x as wide
as high...
Does Retail Shelf Planner work in 2D or in 3D ?
Top
Both. The software calculates everything in 3 dimensions, so that for every product it's known how may units high and deep there are on the shelf or hook.
The display on screen and on output is done in a 2D front view.
Does Retail Shelf Planner support printing in segments?
Top
The print-option in Retail Shelf Planner will output the whole section on one page.
As of the 2011 release the Enterprise edition offers the option to generate a PowerPoint presentation directly from
Retail Shelf Planner. One of the many options this offers is also the option to split the section in segments.
Another option to print the section in segments is to pick a large zoom-factor, copy the planogram to the clipboard, paste the result in e.g. PowerPoint, and
then clip it into the segments you want to have.
How can I use data from Retail Shelf Planner in other applications?
Top
The easiest way is to use the “Copy to Clipboard” function. (In the Edit-menu, or through a right-mouse-click next to the section. For all the underlying data

Can I exchange planograms with other space management software?
Top
Yes, Retail Shelf Planner allows you to both load and save a planogram in the pln-format since the 2010 version. In the

Is it possible to give a planogram to someone who doesn't have specialized software?
Top
To view a planogram that is saved in the rsp-format, you need Retail Shelf Planner. The best way to share a planogram
with somebody who doesn't have the software is to print it as a pdf-file, or copy the planogram image with the "Copy to Clipboard" function to for example Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, or another application that the person does have.
I imported products into the planogram, but they are not visible in the "Allocate Products" dialog.
Top
First make sure that the filters at the bottom left of the dialog don't exclude them. Second, double check if all products have dimensions. If one or more of the
dimensions of a product is 0, it will not be displayed in the list. A quick way to check this is to open the Product List and select the "Products with dimensions missing" option in the
Include dropdown at the top left.

Are there any special things I have to pay attention to when installing the software?
Top
You'll need administrator rights during the installation to ensure all files are copied to the correct location and settings in the Windows' registry are done properly.
Note: these settings are user-specific, so the install is best done from the user-profile and not from the admin-profile of an IT-support person. Once the installation is done the administrator-rights
are no longer needed, but the user needs to have read- and write-rights on the folder in which Retail Shelf Planner has been installed.
How does Retail Shelf Planner link the Live Image to the product?
Top
The Live Image is linked with either the ID or UPC, depending on the setting in Tools-Options. Once the user activates Live Image display,
Retail Shelf Planner will search all Live Image folders that are listed in the Tools-Options dialog. Note that the folders are
searched in the order in which they are listed there, so it is advised to move the most often used folders to the top with the arrow buttons at the top right of the list.

Why is Retail Shelf Planner so much cheaper than other space planning software?
Top
We concentrate on the most important functionality, so that the development costs stay low. In addition thanks to our virtual organization without the large
overhead of a big corporation and the use of modern technology we are able to keep our operational costs low. We pass on these advantages to our clients.
Which file format does Retail Shelf Planner support for Live Images?
Top
Retail Shelf Planner uses jpeg-images. (Extension jpg.) This is the most commonly used file format for images as it is very efficient for storage.
This does mean that it's important to remember that jpg-images in memory expand to 20 to 30 times the size on disk. For good quality output images of 10 KB file size are usually already
sufficient. Using (too) large images means that Retail Shelf Planner (and when creating output the printer) has to process a lot of
extra information, which can cause delays.
If you are merchandising irregularly shaped products on a pegboard, you may want to use a transparent background. That unfortunately isn't possible with the jpg-format, but for this specific
situation Retail Shelf Planner supports the emf-format.

What is the most important difference between the Express and Enterprise versions?
Top
Both versions offer the same capabilities for building, maintaining and printing planograms and reports. The most important difference is that the Enterprise
version comes with a statistical model that simulates the supply chain logistics and consumer demand. This enables the user though powerful analysis-features
to predict the consequences of decisions on the financial performance, out-of-stocks, service levels, etc. The Enterprise edition offers in addition a direct link
to PowerPoint to publish planogram output as part of a presentation, and the option to create Excel reports that combine the information from multiple planograms
in one report/chart.
